The Social Security Handbook
The Social Security Administration (SSA) no longer prints the Social Security Handbook. Our updated version of the Social Security Handbook explains in detail the scope of the available Social Security programs. It not only addresses the disability component; it also deals with retirement, Medicare, vocational rehabilitation, FICA issues, and state and local employment. The Social Security handbook also explains the impact of familial issues of marriage, divorce, legitimacy, step-children, and grandchildren on various SSA programs. While the Social Security Handbook is not as specialized as many of the current publications focusing on disability benefits, it answers a broad range of questions those working with SSA programs often encounter. The Social Security Handbook is also a useful reference for social workers, financial planners, human resource professionals, and CPAs. Although the Social Security Administration (SSA) no longer publishes the Social Security Handbook, the information contained in the Handbook is available free of charge though SSA’s website at www.socialsecurity.gov/. Because the handbook is a “living” document, SSA revises and updates the online version on an ongoing basis. Therefore, the printed version may not contain the most up-to-date information. As stated on SSA’s website, in the event that any conflict exists between the contents of the Handbook and the Social Security Act, Regulations and Rulings, the later take precedence.
Add your margin notes, highlight and tag relevant sections, and photocopy relevant sections with ease and confidence. Our edition of the Social Security Handbook is provided in a durable three-ring binder for easy access, copying, and updates. SSA’s Social Security Handbook is a perfect companion for my practice guide, The Social Security Disability Advocate’s Handbook, which is available from James Publishing.
